PPM Strategy & Goals
Now that we know how we need to deliver, in short increments that give business value, our Sponsors are now “chomping at the bit” for the next PPM feature to be delivered. We need to make sure that our PPM Strategy aligns to our delivery model, our Bimodal delivery model. Let’s start developing this overall Strategy and decide how it maps to our continuous delivery model. Think about it in the following context: we require the Organizational direction to be aligned with the strategy and our business outcomes tie down to our portfolio investments:

Alignment & Business Outcomes
Alignment, authenticating constantly the continuous alignment that your Portfolio has to the organization’s goals. As things move and change understand that the alignment, and what the focus is, that is key. Certify there are clear tangible business outcomes. Think about how you can clearly define your business outcomes, your benefits for those business outcomes and how they align. The need to build your Business Outcomes to show the greatest return on your PPM investment.
The basic building blocks are your investments. Ask yourself the question “How is our Portfolio aligned to our Business Outcomes?”. Do these proposed outcomes provide a true business benefit or are the investments off base, wasting funding and resources?
These basic concepts identified and discussed in Part Two of Moving Your PPM Solution Beyond Timesheets will make sure the fluidity of the Modern PMO, your Modern PMO and prove that as your business grows you can manage thru the change.
